Final film: AIDS awareness, 1987
Let’s round off the festival with an old classic. It looks dated in this company and certainly doesn’t contain the graphic horror scenes of the previous films but there’s plenty of menace in the voiceover from John Hurt. They say horror films can be more powerful when they leave something to the imagination and this one certainly did, causing an entire generation to ask “can we really catch AIDS from a toilet seat?”
